Opening a Vantage Markets account from Malaysia

Register offshore, clear two document checks, then fund the account — and settle the account currency and the line you are aiming at before the transfer rather than after it.

Min deposit $50 on Cent, Standard STP, RAW ECN and Swap Free; $10,000 on PRO ECN (broker's account terms, read 15 September 2026)  ·  Leverage settings up to 1:500 in the brand's own trading calculator (read 15 September 2026)

Opening a Vantage Markets account from Malaysia means registering on the offshore regional site, clearing document checks and funding the account. Identity is normally proved with MyKad or an international passport plus a proof of address. The entry deposit is $50 on the Cent, Standard STP, RAW ECN and Swap Free lines and $10,000 on PRO ECN, and the first deposit fixes the account's base currency.

Where a Malaysian application usually stalls

Verification stops for dull reasons far more often than for suspicious ones: a name spelled differently on the identity document and the application form, an address on the proof that does not match the one typed in, or a document too old to count as current. Checking those three against each other before uploading anything saves days, because each round of rejection and resubmission runs on the compliance desk's working day rather than yours.

How long: Registration itself is a single form; document checks are handled by the broker's compliance team and the account stays unfunded until they clear.
Eligibility: The broker's REGIONAL RESTRICTIONS notice, published on its own regional site (vantagemarketsea.com) and read on 15 September 2026, lists India, Canada, China, Singapore, the United States and FATF blacklist jurisdictions as excluded. Malaysia is not on that list, but the onboarding entity is offshore, not Malaysian.

What to settle before the transfer, not after

Two decisions are made at the moment of the first deposit and are awkward to undo: which account line you are funding, and which currency the account will be denominated in. Both are easier to get right beforehand than to change later, and neither is presented as a decision at the time.

  1. Decide first whether you are opening an account with Vantage Markets or with the broker this site partners with: the buttons here are labelled ‘Open an FxPro account’ and they open FxPro, a different broker, through a partner link.
  2. To apply to Vantage Markets, start from the broker’s own regional site and its registration form — this site does not collect applications and cannot register anyone.
  3. Enter your email and create a password you do not use anywhere else.
  4. Complete the registration form with your residential details as they appear on your documents.
  5. Verify your identity: upload MyKad or a passport, plus a dated proof of address in the same name.
  6. Choose the account line and the base currency, and read what the client agreement says about both before confirming.
  7. Fund the account — the published entry deposit is $50 on Cent, Standard STP, RAW ECN and Swap Free and $10,000 on PRO ECN (broker’s account terms, read 15 September 2026).
  8. Download MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5, or practise on a demo first.

Documents a Malaysian applicant is asked for

Verification normally rests on two documents. Identity is proved with MyKad — the Malaysian national identity card — or with an international passport. A passport is the safer choice when the rest of the application is in English, because it carries the same Latin-script name the form does.

Address is proved separately with a recent utility bill, bank statement or similar document in the same name, and the address on it has to match the one typed into the application. A MyKad carries an address too, but a compliance desk generally wants a dated document rather than a card issued years earlier.

Document checks of this kind are know-your-customer procedures, standard across the foreign exchange market; what differs by broker is which entity performs them and under which licence — here, one that the Investor Alert List of the Securities Commission Malaysia has recorded.

Expect both to be requested in the same pass: two documents, one name, one address, and no mismatch between them and the registration form. An email address and phone number that stay reachable matter as much, because verification codes go to both.

What the first deposit decides for you

The first deposit is not only a funding step. The account has a base currency, and every later figure — required margin, pip value, profit and loss, the margin level running towards the call and stop out levels — is expressed in it. Confirm which currency the account is being opened in before the transfer leaves your bank; the broker’s own account terms are where to check what changing it later involves.

Paying in ringgit against an account denominated in USD adds a conversion on the way in. The rate your bank or payment provider applies is theirs, not the broker’s, and the gap between that rate and the mid-market rate is a real cost that applies again in reverse on withdrawal.

The entry amount decides the line you land on: $50 on Cent, Standard STP, RAW ECN and Swap Free, and $10,000 on PRO ECN. Funding $50 into an account intended for PRO ECN does not open PRO ECN.

Who accepts the application, and under which licence

The application is handled offshore, not by a Malaysian licence holder. The group entity licensed in Mauritius is VIG Group under FSC licence GB20026165; the FCA entity Vantage Global Prime LLP under FRN 590299, the ASIC entity under AFSL 428901 and the FSCA entity under licence 51268 are separate companies — all four published on the broker’s own contact page and read there on 15 September 2026. Which of them signs your client agreement is named in the agreement itself, and that is the document to read before the first deposit.

The brand’s own REGIONAL RESTRICTIONS notice, published on its regional site and read on 15 September 2026, excludes residents of India, Canada, China, Singapore, the United States and jurisdictions on the FATF blacklist. Malaysia is not on that list, which means the broker is willing to accept the client. It does not mean a Malaysian licence exists — the Securities Commission Malaysia lists the brand on its Investor Alert List under a 2021 entry, checked on 15 September 2026. What that changes in practice is set out on the customer service page.

One thing worth separating at exactly this step: the language an application is offered in is not a licence. A form, a portal or a help page in Bahasa Melayu says something about the broker’s reach and nothing about who supervises the account. The two are easy to conflate here, and the conflation is expensive.

Three figures to write down before you deposit

The entry deposit: $50 on four of the five lines, $10,000 on PRO ECN. The margin call: 50%. The stop out: 20%.

Those three belong together because they describe the same thing from different ends. An account funded at the $50 minimum has very little room before the margin level reaches 50% and then 20%, at which point the position is closed for you. The size of the first deposit is not only a question of what you can afford to lose — it is what decides how much adverse movement the account can absorb before that decision is taken out of your hands.

Work the third figure through the calculator with your own intended position size before the transfer leaves your bank, not after. Where those three figures came from, and what the read date next to them promises, is on the page about checking a money figure.

Frequently asked questions

Which documents does a Malaysian applicant submit?
Proof of identity — MyKad or an international passport — and a proof of address such as a utility bill or bank statement in the same name. Two documents, both of which must be current.
Can the account base currency be changed later?
Not something this site can confirm: the account terms read on 15 September 2026 do not set out a procedure for changing it. Treat the currency chosen at opening as the one every later figure will be expressed in, and check the client agreement before funding if you expect to change it.
Does paying in ringgit avoid conversion cost?
No. If the account is denominated in USD, a MYR payment is converted at the provider's rate, and that spread is a cost of its own, applied by the provider rather than by the broker.
